Planning Your Visit

Essential Information

Group size is limited so to avoid overcrowding we admit only one class per half day.

We can accommodate a maximum group of 35 pupils per workshop in our venues, with 1 accompanying adult for every 10 pupils. Any adults needed to support children on a 1:1 basis are in addition to the minimum requirement for the visit.

Groups must book at least a week in advance using the online booking form. Children must be supervised at all times.

Minibuses

There is limited minibus parking available near to the Art Gallery and the Rotunda. The nearest available minibus car park is on Albion Road (with link as on the FAQs)

Coaches

There is a coach drop off point outside the Rotunda Museums (a 5 minute walk from the Art Gallery) or parking nearby.

The Rotunda Museum is accessible by lift throughout. There is no lift access in the Art Gallery. Please let us know in advance if someone in your group has additional needs and we will do our best to cater for them.

There is a disabled toilet open to all visitors in the Rotunda Museum and at Woodend, two minutes from the Art Gallery.

Visitors are permitted to take photographs in the galleries for their personal, educational use only. Please see our photography policy for further details.

Books, posters, pens, pencils, etc. are available in our shops.

  • Your school/group name, address and telephone number
  • Group leader’s name and email address
  • Two preferred visit dates
  • Number of children and adults in each class/group. There must be at least a 1:10 adult to child ratio
  • Age of learners in each class/group
  • Choice of facilitated session or self-led visit
  • If you would like to book a lunch room
  • Any special educational needs or access requirements
  • If you would like to hear more about our upcoming exhibitions, events and special offers.

We do not have a dedicated room at either the Art Gallery or the Rotunda so we offer the choice of booking the conference room at Woodend (2 minutes from the Art Gallery and 10 minutes from the Rotunda) between 12.30 and 1 or 1 and 1.30.  Please indicate on the enquiry form if you wish to book the lunchroom.

We want to provide all members of your group with an enjoyable and inclusive visit. Please inform us prior to your visit if there are children with additional needs in your group.  If you have adults supporting children on a 1:1 basis, they should be in addition to the minimum number of required adults (see group size and adult requirements).

When taking groups to the Art Gallery please let us know how we can help with access needs as there is currently no lift access to the upper galleries (temporary exhibitions).  Accessible toilets are available next door at Woodend.

Primary Schools
